NPV & IRR Calculator
Evaluate a cash-flow sequence with an explicit discount rate and timing convention. Dated mode supports irregular dates, while periodic mode treats entries as equally spaced periods. IRR search shows all bracketed roots found in a chosen range instead of silently choosing one.

How the calculation works
NPV=Σ Ct/(1+r)^t with the first flow at t=0. XNPV uses elapsed actual days/365. IRR/XIRR solves NPV(r)=0. A logarithmic scan brackets sign changes, then bisection refines roots.
Worked example
Flows −1000,600,600 at a 10% periodic discount rate give NPV≈$41.32. The positive IRR is approximately 13.06624%. A sequence with more than one sign change can have multiple IRRs.
Assumptions and limitations
2–500 flows, ordered dates and a rate above −100%. Search samples 2,000 brackets. Roots outside the range or tangent roots without a sign change may be missed. This is numerical analysis, not a guarantee of every mathematical root.
Use a discount rate consistent with the flow period and currency. Taxes, risk, reinvestment assumptions and alternative opportunities require separate analysis; this is not investment advice.
