Roth IRA Calculator
Estimate future Roth IRA savings while seeing how your requested contributions compare with reviewed U.S. 2026 limits. The projection uses your stated taxable compensation, modified adjusted gross income and filing status; it does not infer tax eligibility from salary alone.

How the calculation works
Monthly growth rate = (1 + effective annual return)^(1/12) − 1. Each month grows the balance and adds one twelfth of the allowed annual contribution. The 2026 IRA cap is $7,500, plus $1,100 at age 50 or older, limited by compensation. MAGI phaseout reduces the lesser of that cap or compensation, rounds upward to $10 with a $200 minimum inside the phaseout, and limits the result by compensation/cap less other IRA contributions.
Worked example
At age 35, $80,000 compensation and MAGI, single filing status, no other IRA contributions and zero return, a $20,000 starting balance plus $7,500 annual contributions reaches $95,000 after ten years. At $160,500 single MAGI, the halfway phaseout gives a $3,750 limit when compensation is sufficient.
Assumptions and limitations
Rules are explicitly U.S. tax year 2026 and remain fixed in every future projection year. Age is age at the end of the first contribution year. Single/head-of-household and separate spouses living apart use $153,000–$168,000; joint/qualifying surviving spouse use $242,000–$252,000; separate spouses living together use $0–$10,000. Compensation, MAGI, other IRA contributions and requested contributions remain constant.
This estimate excludes spousal IRA coordination, conversions, rollovers, exceptional repayments, withdrawals and account-specific fees or tax treatment. Future legislation and limits can change; this is not an eligibility certification. Requested amounts are capped visibly rather than accepted as automatically permissible. Confirm MAGI and contribution eligibility using current IRS guidance before contributing.
