Paycheck / Take-Home Pay Calculator

Estimate regular take-home pay for England, Wales or Northern Ireland in UK tax year 2026/27. The breakdown separates the personal allowance, income tax, employee National Insurance, pension salary sacrifice and other deductions.

UK 2026/27: England, Wales and Northern Ireland; regular Category A NI. Annual salary-only tax estimate, not exact cumulative PAYE. Scotland, other tax codes, benefits and student loans excluded.

Reduces taxable cash salary and NI earnings.

How the calculation works

Personal allowance = max(0, £12,570 − max(0, adjusted salary − £100,000)/2). Taxable salary uses 20%, 40% and 45% bands. Regular Category A NI uses selected weekly/monthly thresholds: 8% between thresholds and 2% above the upper limit.

Worked example

At £60,000 annual gross salary, no sacrifice and monthly pay, estimated annual income tax is £11,432. Monthly employee NI is £267.50. Estimated annual net cash is £45,358, or about £3,779.83/month.

Assumptions and limitations

Tax year: 6 April 2026 to 5 April 2027. Salary-only annual liability estimate spread evenly, not exact cumulative PAYE. Uses standard allowance, no other adjusted-net-income changes and Category A NI. Scotland, other tax codes/NI categories, bonuses, benefits and student loans are excluded.

Effective pension salary sacrifice reduces cash salary before tax and NI; do not enter ordinary after-tax pension contributions there. Minimum wage, pension eligibility and annual allowance charges are not assessed. Other countries are not supported by this tax engine.
