Flooring Calculator
Turn multiple room measurements into a flooring order. Subtract excluded areas, add waste and round to complete packs using the supplier’s pack coverage.

How the calculation works
Order area = net area × (1 + waste ÷ 100). Packs = round up(order area ÷ coverage per pack). Purchased area = packs × pack coverage. Board count = round up(order area ÷ nominal board area); this count is an estimate separate from supplier pack coverage.
Worked example
A 20 m² room with 10% waste requires 22 m². At 2.2 m² per pack, order 10 packs. At $45 per pack the material estimate is $450. A 1.2 m × 0.2 m plank gives a nominal count of 92 planks.
Assumptions and limitations
Pack coverage is supplier data and may differ from nominal board dimensions. Costs use rounded purchased packs or their area, not bare floor area. This estimator does not calculate a laying pattern, minimum end cuts or expansion gaps.
Measure each room consistently and avoid counting connecting spaces twice. Confirm whether closets need flooring before excluding them. Underlay, trim, adhesives, delivery and labour are separate. Complex layouts can need a higher waste allowance.
