Tile Calculator
Combine room areas and exclusions, then estimate tiles and boxes. Enter nominal tile dimensions and grout spacing, with an explicit allowance for cuts and breakage.

How the calculation works
Net area uses rectangle, triangle and circle geometry. Order area = net area × (1 + waste ÷ 100). Approximate tiles = round up[order area ÷ ((tile length + gap) × (tile width + gap))]. Boxes = round up(tiles ÷ tiles per box).
Worked example
A 20 m² room with 10% waste requires 22 m². For 0.6 m square tiles and 0.003 m grout spacing, approximate count is 61 tiles. With four per box, buy 16 boxes containing 64 tiles.
Assumptions and limitations
Grout spacing is a repeating-grid approximation, not an exact layout. Edge grout, cut reuse, pattern alignment and irregular corners are not modelled. Price per tile includes all tiles in rounded boxes; area pricing uses their nominal tile area.
Check the supplier’s stated box coverage. Diagonal layouts and patterned tiles often require more waste than straight grids. Dry-layout complex patterns and confirm all boxes share the required shade and calibration.
