Grade Calculator
Combine weighted percentages or earned/possible points, drop the lowest scored entries and find the final-exam grade needed for a target. Enter the grading rules your course actually uses.

How the calculation works
Weighted grade = sum(score × weight)/sum(weight). Points grade = sum(earned)/sum(possible) × 100. Required final = [target − current × (1 − final weight)]/final weight. Dropped entries are chosen by percentage before recalculation.
Worked example
Scores 80 and 90 with weights 1 and 3 give 87.5%. A current grade of 80, a 30% final and target 85 require about 96.67% on the final.
Assumptions and limitations
Weighted mode treats entered scores as percentages; points mode divides earned by possible. Scores above 100% and extra credit are outside this model. Weights normalize automatically. Dropping by percentage may differ from a course’s category or lowest-impact rule.
Keep at least one included grade. A required final above 100% is labelled unattainable under this model; below zero means the target is already met with a zero final. Confirm weighting, rounding and letter-grade boundaries with your institution.
