Image Compressor
Reduce image dimensions and choose JPEG or WebP output locally. Use a quality value or a target file size; the tool reports actual achieved bytes and explicitly flags a target it could not meet.
Your result
How the calculation works
Target mode searches quality from 1% to 100% at the chosen dimensions, retaining the highest tested quality that meets the byte limit. If the minimum-quality output is still too large, the result says so. Dimensions are reduced only to your selected maximum edge.
Worked example
A 2,400 × 1,600 image with maximum edge 1,200 becomes 1,200 × 800. A 100 KiB target means 102,400 bytes. Success is measured against the downloaded bytes, not an estimated compression ratio.
Assumptions and limitations
Inputs: JPEG, PNG and WebP. Outputs: JPEG or WebP when the browser encoder supports it. JPEG flattens transparency to white. Metadata is discarded; animated images are processed as a single browser-decoded frame. No guaranteed size reduction or AVIF support is implied.
For a stubborn target, reduce dimensions or choose WebP. Inspect small text and fine detail at full size. A PNG with sharp graphics may be better left unchanged than converted to a lossy image.
