Paver Patio Planner

Estimate a patio order with a repeatable mix of paving sizes. Each pattern row states how many pieces of that size appear in one area module. Separate base, bedding and edging results support a practical material checklist.

How the calculation works

Pattern module area=Σ count×(paver length+gap)×(paver width+gap). Whole patterns=ceil(patio area×allowance/module area). Base volume=area×compacted depth; loose base multiplies by the entered compaction factor.

Worked example

A 5 m × 4 m patio using 0.2 m × 0.1 m pavers with 0.005 m gaps has a 0.021525 m² module. At 10% allowance, order 1,023 pavers. A 0.1 m base is 2 m³ compacted.

Assumptions and limitations

The pattern is an area ratio, not an exact nesting or cut drawing. Gap is included in each module. Compacting factor, base depth, edge restraints and drainage are user design assumptions.

Confirm the pattern with the manufacturer. Borders, packaging, cuts, slopes, access and site drainage may change the actual order. This tool does not certify pavement design.
