Dimensional Weight Calculator
Estimate billable shipping weight for one package or a batch. Compare actual and dimensional weight, apply entered rounding and calculate the maximum height at a chosen weight target.
Your result
How the calculation works
Dimensional weight = length × width × height/divisor, with unit conversion when the chosen example divisor uses different units. Billable weight = round up(max(actual, dimensional) ÷ weight increment) × increment. Maximum height holds length and width fixed.
Worked example
A 40 × 30 × 20 cm box has volume 24,000 cm³. At an example divisor of 5,000 cm³/kg, dimensional weight is 4.8 kg. With actual weight 3 kg and 1 kg rounding, estimated billable weight is 5 kg.
Assumptions and limitations
Example divisors 5,000/6,000 cm³/kg and 139/166 in³/lb are generic conventions, not verified current carrier/service tariffs. Enter your carrier’s actual divisor and rounding rules. Dimension rounding, minimum weight, oversize, service and destination charges can change the billed amount.
Measure the packaged outer dimensions, including protrusions. For a maximum-height target below actual weight, resizing alone cannot satisfy the target. Obtain a carrier quote before buying a label or changing packaging.
