Moving Cost Calculator
Build a moving budget using your own transport, worker-hour, packing and rental rates. Choose professional movers or a self move, then inspect the components and a range based on your uncertainty allowance. No location-specific mover prices are invented.

How the calculation works
Trips = ceiling(load volume / vehicle capacity). Travel = one-way distance × trips × return-travel multiplier × entered distance charge. Professional labour = workers × (base hours + stair flights × extra hours per flight) × rate per worker-hour. Self-move truck rental = rental days × daily rate. Other entered costs are added; range and contingency percentages apply to the base estimate.
Worked example
Two workers for four hours at $50 per worker-hour cost $400. One 30 km trip with return travel at $1/km adds $60; $100 packing gives $560 base. A 20% range is $448–$672, and a separate 10% contingency budget is $616.
Assumptions and limitations
Load and capacity use the same selected volume unit; distance charges match your selected kilometre or mile unit. Each capacity-limited trip follows the same route. A single-tier worker rate is used, while self moves exclude professional labour. Stair allowance is an added duration for the whole crew per flight, not a second per-worker multiplier. Enter zero for unused costs.
The range is your chosen allowance, not a statistical confidence interval or binding quote. Rates vary with access, inventory, distance, timing, minimum charges and provider terms. Get written quotes and specify what they include. City labels do not calculate routes. Taxes, tolls, storage and specialty handling should be included in other fees when applicable.
